California Sober Living - Testimonial

Josh Liber
Back2Life Sober Living
732 Raymond Street
Santa Monica, CA 90405
Dear Josh,
I want to thank you for the opportunity to be a resident at Back2Life. You’ve provided an
environment in the house that really sets the standard for how I think a sober living should be
run. You’ve helped me greatly along the path of sobriety by showing me the importance of
responsibility, honesty, accountability, and willingness as well as showing me how to be vulnerable
and humble without fear of ridicule.
I can’t really imagine growing at a faster rate than I’ve been able to here at the house. The
structure of your program along with peer feedback from the other residents and outside therapy
has allowed me to recognize, accept and change things about myself that I never would have been
willing to see in the past.
This is not my first time getting sober, but it is my first time in sober living, and the first time I’m
actually enjoying my sobriety and feeling like it is something I’d like to keep with me for the long
run, and that really is directly attributable to this house and the program you have set up here.
Sincerely yours,
Joshua Ogle

Sober Living Los Angeles Testimonial

I am happy as the parent of two recovering addicts to express my deep
appreciation to AA, Josh Liber and Back 2 Life Sober Living. The name
Back2Life is truly appropriate for my son, Andy. When I visited in
December, I was pleased with the beautiful home and its facilities,
the lovely setting and atmosphere and the warm welcome I received from
the men who were there. What thrilled me most was the change in my
son Andy. He was more open in his communication, more emotionally
"alive" and connected. Andy was more focused and interested in life
such as career choices, people, and pursuing his interests in the arts.
Andy for the first time in a long time is taking responsibility for
his life by setting goals and taking steps to achieve them. He has a
more positive and hopeful attitude with a renewed sense of a love of
life, others and self and a willingness to participate in life. He is
beginning to embrace and recognize his strengths rather than focusing
on weaknesses and at the same time, he seems more serene and not
anxious and worried about his future.
Back 2 Life has given my son an environment that encourages and
supports his recovery in a sober living community setting while at the
same time encouraging and supporting his transition back to the
community at large.
This change in Andy has been the hope and answer to prayers of our
family, friends and many AA and Alanon communities who know and love
Andy. I am truly grateful for Andy's recovery and progress at
Back2Life and for the love and encouragement of Director, Josh Liber.

Sober Living Los Angeles Testimonial

I admire the courage and determination it takes to help other people in their struggle to maintain their sobriety, in preventing and helping them face the terrible challenges that arise during the recovery phase. I appreciate the dedication to this important cause. Back2 Life is a blessing to the sober community.
After our son’s rehabilitation treatment we looked for a place where he could continue his difficult journey to recovery. We chose for him to reside at Back2Life knowing that it had a structured and caring environment. That decision was a turning point in his and our lives. For years, we had wondered if we would ever see our "real" son again. He has been a resident of Back2Life for about 3 months and the changes in him have been remarkable. He is learning to be a responsible and accountable person. I have gotten to know the philosophy, personality and unique style of Josh Liber the founder and owner of Back2Life and his interaction with the residents of his house. From my perspective, Josh is a true and caring person, he has given us great advice with respect and true concern so we can understand our son’s way of thinking and therefore we can communicate with him in a more productive an healthy manner. He is also caring in his way of helping alcoholics/addicts reshape their lives and teaching them, the necessary tools to maintain their sobriety, to be self-sufficient and to have good, productive lives. To see our son make decisions and follow through with them is extremely moving to us and we are very proud of him for trying every day to work on the challenges of his recovery in an honest, humble and loving way.

“Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”.

A truly grateful Mother

Sober Living Los Angeles Testimonial

Josh, I think you, Ron and the facility are fantastic and am so grateful for all you have given Andy. In an industry I feel is losing some credibility (from my past experience) I have to put you and Back2Life at the top for integrity. Andy's mother and I are so happy with his progress and are grateful for your personal interest in his recovery.

For the past year and a half my son, an addict/alcoholic of at least 15 years, has been struggling to find sobriety. He has been in and out of a number of treatment centers from Pennsylvania and Florida to California - some with national reputations - relapsing several times and coming near death twice. Five months ago he entered Back2Life after having spent a few days in the hospital from a previous life-threatening relapse. Between the safe, nurturing environment of the Back2Life sober living house and the outpatient program he attends, my son is learning the skills to live in a sober world and become productively employed at something he likes. As a parent I am greatly relieved and happy with his wonderful progress and have total confidence and trust in how Back2Life is managing all aspects of his life. I especially appreciate being able to call and talk with Josh or staff to discuss any concern. I believe Back2Life is the best place for my son to be at this time in his recovery. Thanks to Josh Liber!

Sober Living Los Angeles Testimonial from Mike

I’ve been around the program of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 15 years. I’ve been in several rehabs and several sober living environments. My experience at Back2Life has been absolutely positive and helpful in my recovery. Back2Life offers a very solid and safe environment for someone looking to stay sober. The program that Josh Liber offers teaches more about life skills necessary to maintain sobriety. I would recommend this sober living to any alcoholic/addict who wants to improve their life in sobriety. Back2Life has really helped me get my life back. I’m forever grateful to Josh and the other residents for an incredible experience. - Mike

Sober Living Los Angeles Testimonial

My sobriety date is August 1st, 2007. As of today I’ve been sober 5 months and 8 days, and I cannot accurately transmit this experience in words. In a nutshell, I come from a close & loving family, am college educated and would give the shirt off my back to a friend or even a complete stranger. Yet, for the past 12 years of my life I have been in and out of recovery and have lost everything - more than once - due to alcohol, cocaine and heroin abuse. Six months ago I finally found myself at an all time low, like never before, but little did I know what awaited me.

When Back 2 Life was presented to me as the only option I felt something in my gut that I never before felt; almost as if it were the flicker of a new light and a new beginning. I was so scared because true recovery and honesty was very foreign to me. I’d been in and out of treatments and sober livings and in each case it was just a matter of paying my way, eating some good food, a little counseling, messing around with girls, and 30, 60 or 90 days later it was back to a similar way of life. It never seemed like recovery, just another vacation!

I’d have to publish a novel in order to convey where my heart is when speaking of Josh Liber and this awesome environment. I was initially drawn to the comfort and the spread of amenities, but once I began to go along with the process that he employs my life slowly began to change. It’s different here. He cares about us far more than a stranger should. He helped me to see what my life was truly about. He helped me to understand that drugs & alcohol weren’t my problem, in fact they had been my solution for the past 12 years, and today I have new solutions! Today I have friends, fun, honesty, my health, my family back, self-esteem, community and so much more. Today I have true sobriety and I have Back 2 Life. I told Josh that I have no intention of ever leaving, he’ll just have to kick me out when he eventually gets sick of me! All kidding aside, he suggested I commit for 6 months and I am resigned to doing exactly what he says because to me, Josh is the perfect example of where I want to be when I am sober as long as he is. I am so grateful to him and hope that I one day get the opportunity to help others the way he has helped me!
